Through the UN declaration “United to End Tuberculosis:  An Urgent Global Response to a Global Epidemic” world leaders reaffirmed their commitment to end tuberculosis by 2030.

 

Logo World Health Organization EuropeAmbitious targets were set: among other goals, there is a commitment to successfully treat 40 million people, including 1.5 million people with drug resistant tuberculosis. With a jointly organized event in the context of World TB Day 2019 political representatives as well as technical experts of countries in the WHO European region will come together to follow up on the 2018 UN high level meeting on tuberculosis.

The event will provide a platform to discuss the necessary next steps on the way to eliminating TB, focusing on the implementation of the multisectoral accountability framework, drug resistant TB and synergies with universal health coverage.

The 2nd Joint German Ministry of Health and WHO Regional Office for Europe World TB Day Event takes place at the Robert Koch Institute (Nordufer 20, 13353 Berlin) on 19 March 2019 in Berlin.
